A. BACKGROUND

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist visitors (women and men) in use of the computer, internet and email.
- Provide technical assistance to CSSC visitors as practical and according to areas of expertise. Refer visitors to other internal or external resources as necessary.
- Establish and maintain a library of resource materials on civil society development topics of interest to CSSC clients.
- Assist visitors to access information and locate resources on civil society development topics. (e.g., through internet, CSSC library, or referral). Seek out additional information and resources as necessary, and keep ISO and Counterpart informed of useful new resources.
- Participate in establishing and monitor policy and procedures for use of CSSC facilities.
- Ensure that Support Center equipment and resources are well-maintained.
- Participate in promoting awareness of the CSSC in the assigned region
- Participate in collecting data and preparing reports on Support Center activities.
- As requested, distribute information about I-PACS activities, including RFPs.
- Assist in addressing issues rose by CSSC visitors and suggest program changes or enhancements as appropriate.
- Coordinate Support Center efforts with program initiatives in OD, grant-making, gender and media.
- Participate in promoting the exchange of information and expertise across the assigned region.
- As requested, contribute to overall I-PACS project planning and development.
- As requested, participate fully in meetings and ad hoc working groups.
- Keep informed of Civil Society issues and developments in Afghanistan.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
C. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Minimum of two years of work experience. Experience working in an NGO highly desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer software including Windows, Microsoft Office, email and internet.
- Working knowledge of the issues and objectives of the NGO sector.
- University degree preferred.
- Customer service skills, including patience and a friendly and approachable manner.
- Excellent speaking and listening communication skills.
- Good English speaking and comprehension skills.
- Fluency in the two main Afghan languages, Pashto & Dari (writing, speaking and comprehension).
- Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Analytical and problem solving abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Must be of a good and respectful character, and be able to conduct business with the whole national and international community regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion, race, tribe or culture with respect, and professionalism.
- Professionalism in appearance and demeanor.
- Willingness to enhance knowledge through training and personal initiative.
